WORLD CUP: WHAT THE HECK WAS THAT!!

WOW.....I was boycotting this one...but tuned it anyway. WOW..what two minutes.

first time in my life I have EVER felt sorry for a German soccer team. I have never liked them, my first real world cup memory was rooting for The Netherlands. Seems that back in the day, the Dutch were cool, because they played like South Americans, or at least that is the impression I got from my dad.
But, they always seemed to end up against teams whose style of play I liked in the Cup, including the wonderful French team in 82, Mexico and Argentina, all the way up to a game ago, Brazil, and of course, the live spectacle of watching them beat Bolivia in 94.....

But, I really felt sorry for them, they had really improved their play, and I picked them to win the cup.
And the German public was almost too classy to lose, they actually applauded at the end.

Did I mention that after the Germans I really, really, dislike the Italian teams???

I felt exactly the same way you do, on both teams. I hated that Italian faking-injury, it was so unmanly. Their victory was fair though, it's just that I am now rooting for the French and that's all there is to it, the French team has never offended me and I think the French deserve something to cheer about.

Absolutely. How can someone not cheer for Zidane? Truly, he is one of the classiest footballers playing today. I hope the Italians dive their way to a thorough drubbing.

I liked the way he switched shirts with the Portuguese guy. Very classy.
